The Prattville High School speech and debate program has earned significant recognition by the National Forensic League. Because our chapter received 100 degrees or more last year, it has been placed in the top 10% of NFL chapters nationwide and earned membership in the NFL's prestigious 100 Club.

Homewood Classic Nov. 6 and 7
Our next tournament is the Homewood Classic in Birmingham November 6 and 7. The Prattville team has attended this tournament for the past three years, and we would like to continue the tradition. Having said that, the entry fees for the tournament have risen significantly; however, there is a fair reason for the increase. Unlike other tournaments, the Homewood Classic will provide free food for your child throughout the weekend. This includes dinner Friday night, breakfast Saturday morning, lunch Saturday afternoon, and fruit and cookie snacks in between meals. Essentially, your child will not need spending money. I feel this more than compensates for the increase in fees. There will also be additional snack choices that the students can purchase if they desire but that shouldn’t be necessary. The following is a breakdown of the tournament costs:
Public Forum Teams - $70.00 (cost split between the two team members)
Individual Events - $30.00 per event
Hotel - $35.00 per student
The deadline for tournament fees is Friday, October 30.
Also, the Homewood tournament is our first overnight tournament of the year. All students and parents should review the rules for overnight trips in the student handbook.
